<br>
It was finally Autumn…not that the weather seemed to change much in London, but the little dormouse had a great love for the seasonal change and this season in particular. There was nothing like cozying up with a hot cuppa and wrapping oneself in a multitude of blankets. Something she liked to refer to as "a mouse burrito."
<br>
<br>
Oh and she'd recently discovered 'Mexican food' or the closest thing to it in London. She hadn't stopped talking about it for weeks to Ruby, mostly because she often forgot she'd told her in the first place.
<br>
<br>
However Amelie had found herself stuck on the tube and had <i>also</i> found she did not love autumn as much as she'd thought, at least here in London. Since she had not been in London for more than a year she'd been experiencing what human's considered "holidays". Amelie did not like many of these "holidays".
<br>
Holidays with humans considered mostly of getting loud and becoming drunk. She was not a large fan of the former. "Halloween", she found, included something her heart could not endure for much longer. Worse so that the holiday did not even occur until the <b>end</b> of the month. It seemed people could not wait so long either.
<br>
She sat in a seat, closest to the back and away from most everyone entering during rush hour. She prayed she'd be awake for her stop, she couldn't take the terror much more. As the weeks wore on she found more and more people not looking like themselves, and worse, as things that terrified the poor mouse.
<br>
<br>
Her eyes darted from left to right as people filled any and every open space available in the car, including the seat next to her. She gripped her sleeve with such severity her knuckles turned an impossible white, she was already a deathly pale hue on a daily basis. The bags under her eyes seemed even greater in size, which was amazing in a rather unfortunate way.
<br>
At last the moving stopped, the doors slid close and Ames finally let the breathe she hadn't realized she was holding, out. It came shakily, and she sniffled out of habit, running her sleeved hand over her nose which caused the man to her left to give her the most dubious look. She was unsure of his reaction and decided to ignore it the best she could.
<br>
<br>
She hadn't realized the tram had stopped, she'd almost slipped asleep once more. Her neighbor had accidentally nudged her as he stood to leave the car causing her to return to the present. She quickly gathered her things, so happy to be leaving the cylindrical cage at last. However the happiness was short lived as her eyes met with anothers and she felt her spine go stiff as a board.
<br>
There, before her, stood the tiniest black cat, a small paw firmly holding it's mother's hand, the other a hollowed out pumpkin. The shock had hit her straight on, and only instinct seemed to take over her mind. This had to have been the tenth one this week.
<br>
Only the smallest of whimpers left her lips before she felt herself go limp and the impact of the cold tube floor. The dormouse did not like October.

Scratching.
<br>
<br>
A scratching within the wall. The faintest of sounds but still there nonetheless, much like the little Dormouse's existence. Amelie huffed in the darkness of the cleft betwixt stones in the walls of the castle. Her little clawed hands grasped the cloth of the sweets she'd managed to stow away for such an occasion.
<br>
She found herself back in Wonderland once more, happy to be home and not worrisome over her prim pink figure back in London. Here she felt much more relaxed, her normally white fur mottled with rust and dirt from squeezing her way around stone, brick, and metal. She wondered for a moment if perhaps her human form would have been useful at this moment, however she never did enjoy dealing with anything regarding guards. She let out the smallest of laughs. <i>Regarding guards.</i> Why couldn't she be funny while in someone's presence.
<br>
<br>
Dearest Jack had been under lock and key since coming into reign. She also had been away in London, which seemed like forever in a way. She had missed her little visits to him and was very keen to use up the tarts she saved.
<br>
<br>
Which brought her back to now, stuck here and using what little weight she had in this world to pull her little knapsack through a wall. She huffed another squeak as she pulled once more, little clawed feet scraping the stone. She stopped to catch her breath, whiskers twitching against the walls. <b>"Okay..third time's the charm right?"</b> She whispered to herself.
<br>
Finally with one last tug the knapsack was freed and without breaking the tarts in two. Smiled as best a mouse can smile as she placed the straps over her little shoulders and moved forward once more. Finally finding her way into a hallway where every sound could be heard echoing from who knows where in the castle. Her large ears twitched at every din, a slight waver of fear, she hoped she'd not be stepped on or swatted at as had happened one too many times before. She stopped to gain her bearings, wondering where on earth she might be, or for that matter, Jack. She reminded herself she had a nose, something that wasn't as keen in London, and once more chuckled at herself.
<br>
<br>
She stood upright, lifting her nose up and closing beady eyes. She took in the smell of the keep, taking a few seconds before finally recognizing that familiar fragrance. She smiled again and took off as fast she could, keeping herself close the wall just in case.
<br>
<br>
At last she came to a door, which luckily had more than enough room below it to fit her and her knapsack. She stood to look up at it, to try and remember what it looked like for future reference. She rubbed her paws together before ducking below it, careful once more with her knapsack. Tentatively she poked her head to the other side and listened. Her little eyes taking in the room which was well furnished.
<br>
She heard nothing, which caused her concern. With caution she moved herself into the room,<b>"J--Jack?"</b> She called out, which sounded no louder than a whisper. She looked down and did her best to clean her mussed fur, not wanting to look a fright if she found him.

<p>
Amelie fidgeted at the counter. It was getting late, well past her work time, but it was slow and she found herself not so much in a sleeping mood. Which in all actuality had the staff somewhat concerned for her. <p>
She sat on one of the stools, fingertips gliding around the edges of her cuppa. The only reason she wanted to leave was to remove the work clothes that adorned her petite frame. She found the cleaners had over starched the cloth, and it rubbed at her soft pale skin rather annoyingly. Her lips twisted in a sort of grimace.
<p>
A placid look washed across her features as soon as the scowl appeared, one of content, yet the poor girl's mind had turned tumultuous for the worse. She heaved a sigh, which sounded more like a squeak of serenity to any coworkers near her. They smiled as they worked, cleaned and made themselves busy for the sake of it. One of the few 24 hour cafe's in the area, they attracted all sorts and it wasn't a surprise when they'd experienced a few attempted robberies..and robberies just the same.
<p>
Amelie hoped tonight would be as serene as her appearance, and as far as she could tell, felt no threat approaching.
<p>
This did not, however, prepare her for the unexpected chime of the front door opening. Swiftly her cup was on it's side, fingers scrambling to right their wrong and the haze one more overtook her. She staved her coworkers from her mess, and slid herself from her seat, tucking a pencil nearby behind her ear. A scent overtook her while she wiped the counter clean, something familiar but obscure all at once. She blinked slowly before turning to attend their new customer.
